The Chief of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU), Kyrylo Budanov, honored DIU Special Forces operatives and handed them unique handmade knives bearing his personal signature as a sign of respect, gratitude, and recognition of their combat contribution.
According to Ukrinform, the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence posted the news on its Facebook page. The report notes that the ceremony involved fighters from one of the naval DIU units who met with Budanov, with the lieutenant general personally presenting the knives.
“Warriors of one of the naval special units of military intelligence met with the Chief of the DIU of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov. The lieutenant general personally handed the fighters unique knives with his own signature as a sign of respect, gratitude, and recognition of their combat contribution.”
The DIU emphasized the special value of the awards, explaining that each knife was handmade. Budanov expressed gratitude to the service members who operate at sea and conduct combat missions across the Black Sea, including areas around Zmiinyi Island, gas extraction platforms, and coastal zones of temporarily occupied territories.
In return, the naval DIU Special Forces operatives presented Budanov with gifts and thanked him for supporting the development of the DIU’s naval capabilities. Ukrinform also reported that six DIU units received an aid package from an anonymous donor in the Netherlands.
“I thank each of our guys who conquer the sea and carry out combat missions across the Black Sea — on Zmiinyi Island, the gas extraction platforms, and in coastal areas of temporarily occupied territories,” Budanov noted.
