Sally Kirkland, the 84-year-old actress known for her role in Bruce Almighty, is currently in hospice care. She was hospitalized in Palm Springs following a dementia diagnosis in 2024, according to her representative, Michael Greene. Her former student and close friend, Cody Galloway, is by her side during this difficult time.
“Our beloved friend, Sally Kirkland, has graced the stage and screen, inspiring audiences and lifting the spirits of countless many both in and out of the Hollywood community as an actress, teacher, and minister.”
A GoFundMe page for Kirkland explains the severity of her condition:
“This past year Sally fractured her four bones in her neck, right wrist, and her left hip. While recovering she developed two separate life-threatening infections. The combination of these injuries and infections have required extensive hospitalizations and rehab beyond the 100 days insurance will cover. As the days pass, lack of proper care greatly diminishes Sally’s chance of a full recovery. However, with the right medical support, we know she has a strong chance of overcoming this setback and returning to the work she loves.”
Support from friends and the Hollywood community remains strong as Sally faces these health challenges.
