Back in the '90s, the idea of a Skarhead x Integrity split EP would have seemed impossible. At that time, there was clear animosity between Skarhead's Danny "Ezec" Singer and Integrity's Dwid Hellion. So, it was surprising when they announced a collaborative 12" vinyl, setting aside past conflicts.
When asked about the unexpected project, Ezec explained the inspiration behind it:
“We both hate that bitch ass n***a, Chubby Fresh.”
For context, Chubby Fresh (Tony Pines) is the original drummer of One Life Crew, a Cleveland band known for its controversial history. Ezec described how the connection formed:
“Dwid and I started talking online within the past year, making jokes about Chubby and then we started talking about life and music. I then hit up [Static Era Records owner] Jay Reason to reach out to him about doing a split vinyl release on his label!
Once Dwid said yes, I knew this release was gonna knock this world off its axis! The music, the art, and lyrics are straight fire, son! I can’t wait for the release and to play shows with each other.”
This collaboration signals a new chapter for both artists, moving beyond old rivalries and focusing on creating intense music and art together.
Author’s summary: What once seemed impossible, a Skarhead and Integrity split EP, now unites two NYHC veterans driven by shared passion and rivalry, promising explosive music and shows.
