Claressa Shields publicly called out Jake Paul for his seemingly selective outrage regarding the cancellation of the Gervonta 'Tank' Davis boxing exhibition, following new domestic violence allegations against Davis.
Jake Paul's boxing promotion company, Most Valuable Promotions, announced on Monday that its Netflix event scheduled for November 14 will no longer proceed. Nakisa Bidarian, Paul's business partner, explained they tried to handle the situation responsibly and plan to have Paul fight a different opponent on Netflix at a later date in 2025. Gervonta Davis will no longer be involved.
The cancellation coincides with recent court documents describing an incident where Davis allegedly choked an ex-girlfriend inside a Miami strip club on October 27, among other accusations.
Jake Paul called Davis "an actual walking human piece of garbage" on his social media platform X.
Shields expressed skepticism toward Paul's reaction, suggesting that his outrage was not genuine. She stated on X Spaces:
"One: I will say this, I'm not going to say I 100 percent agree with what Jake said, but what I will say is that we all knew Tank's background with domestic violence before his fight got made. Before any of his fights get made, we already know he's got some issues with this." "This is not his first, second, or even third time with something like this coming out."
Author's summary: Claressa Shields challenges Jake Paul's selective outrage, pointing out that allegations of domestic violence against Gervonta Davis were well-known before the recent canceled exhibition fight.
