The Seattle Kraken ended their five-game homestand with a tough 6-1 loss to the San Jose Sharks, marking their first regulation defeat at home this season. Despite the loss, Seattle earned six out of a possible ten standing points during this stretch, achieving a 2-1-2 record.
Collecting 60 percent of available points, the Kraken matched last season’s wild-card caliber performance. Next, the team faces a back-to-back road challenge against St. Louis (4-8-2) and Dallas (7-3-3) before returning home for three more games, finishing again against the Sharks.
The Kraken showed early promise when rookie Ryan Winterton scored his first NHL goal late in the first period, leveling the score at 1-1.
“Not too many things went right for the home squad, at least not after Ryan Winterton scored his first NHL goal to tie the game.”
San Jose quickly regained the lead, adding another goal before the first intermission. A power-play goal in the second period and two more early in the third widened the gap, forcing Seattle to pull starting goaltender Joey Daccord in favor of Matt Murray. However, Murray’s night began with bad luck as Tyler Toffoli scored on a breakaway just 30 seconds after the switch, sealing the Sharks’ dominant win.
Seattle’s home momentum faded in a 6-1 loss to San Jose, but Winterton’s milestone goal offered a glimpse of promise amid a challenging finish.
