In anticipation of Remembrance Sunday, Wolves Academy players have been honoring those who served with a special focus on members connected to the club.
Last Friday, the under-12 players planted a tree at Compton Park to remember Wolves players who served in both World Wars. The ceremony included vicar Anne Martin and featured readings of the names of the fallen, accompanied by a poem expressing the players’ reflections on Remembrance.
This effort aligns with the Premier League’s annual Christmas Day truce initiative, providing young players an important opportunity to learn about history during a meaningful time of the year.
Natalie Deakin, head of education at Wolves Academy, said: “It's really important that we're looking after them as potential players, but also nice, super rounded people. That's really important to us and the boys have worked really hard on this project."
The week-long activities offered a thoughtful conclusion to the club’s Remembrance commemorations.
Summary: Wolves Academy combines respect, education, and community engagement to honor those who served, emphasizing character development alongside athletic growth.
