H.S.H. Princess Charlene, President of the Monegasque Rugby Federation, visited Collège Charles III for the 2nd edition of the U16 National Team Jersey Design Competition. The event showcased a vibrant mix of creativity and youthful enthusiasm.
The competition was organized by the Monegasque Rugby Federation in partnership with the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation and the Department of National Education, Youth and Sports. It brought together nearly 160 students, aged 12 to 15, from grades 6 to 9 (grades 3 to 6 in the French system).
Participants were tasked with designing a rugby jersey that combined symbolic elements from Monaco and South Africa, as well as the emblems of the Federation and the Foundation. The theme connected Princess Charlene’s South African roots with her current home, Monaco.
"The theme symbolically links Princess Charlene’s native South Africa and her adopted home of Monaco, reflecting values of unity, friendship, and respect central to both sport and the Princess’s personal story."
Over five weeks, students, guided by their art teachers, expressed their imagination and national pride through their jerseys. The results were a vibrant fusion of sport, culture, and youthful ambition.
