Former Miss USA Noelia Voigt ‘Horrified’ by Miss Universe Executive

Former Miss USA Noelia Voigt Supports Miss Mexico After Pageant Controversy

Noelia Voigt, former Miss USA 2023, publicly backed Miss Mexico, Fátima Bosch, and other contestants who protested against disrespectful behavior during the Miss Universe competition. The incident prompted several contestants to walk out in response to remarks made by Miss Universe executive Nawat Itsaragrisil.

Incident Details

During the event, Itsaragrisil referred to Bosch, 25, as a “dumb head,” a term implying foolishness. He insisted, “You must listen to me first, then argue with me.”

“When I woke up yesterday morning and saw the video circulating across the internet showing what happened, I was shocked, disgusted, disappointed and genuinely horrified.” – Noelia Voigt

Executive's Apology

Nawat Itsaragrisil soon apologized, acknowledging the pressure he faces and emphasizing his humanity:

“I think you must understand the pressure is a lot, I am a human sometimes. By the way, I have not intend[ed] to hurt anyone.”

Voigt’s Perspective and Experience

Voigt empathized with the contestants, relating to the feeling of having one’s voice ignored and dignity undermined. She revealed that she had chosen to step down from her Miss USA title in May 2024 for reasons related to her mental health.

“As someone who served as Miss USA 2023 and later made the decision to step away from my title, I understand what it feels like when your voice is dismissed and your dignity is demeaned.”

Her show of solidarity highlighted the challenges faced by pageant contestants beyond the spotlight.
