Election Day as a State Holiday
Although Election Day is not a federal holiday, it is recognized as a state holiday in New York, falling on the first Tuesday in November.
The Time Off to Vote Notice, or New York State Election Law Section 3-110, states that an employee may take off up to two hours without loss of pay to vote if they do not have time to attend the polls between the beginning and end of their shift.
