CQC Local Authority Assessments
The Care Quality Commission is assessing all 153 local authorities in England to review their compliance with adult social care duties under Part 1 of the Care Act (2014).
Most local authorities have been or are being assessed, with the initial phase concluding next year and on-site activity due to be completed by December 2025.
We will use feedback from the initial phase to inform our re-assessment approach, developed through stakeholder engagement and new government priorities.
To support future assessments, we plan to introduce rating characteristics.
