Pensioner Poverty: A Crucial Issue
Pensioner poverty was a major topic at our recent retired members' conference in Brighton, with at least 1.9 million pensioners living below the breadline in the UK.
This issue particularly affects women, who make up the majority of UNISON members, as the gender pay gap is highest for women over 50, impacting their pensions.
About one in five female pensioners in the UK lives in poverty.
