Six Flags, the parent company of more than 40 amusement parks across North America, has closed its sole Maryland location.
For many, the park was more than just an attraction. Washington, D.C. resident Lise Bruneau shared her fond memories of the park, where she began taking her family 16 years ago and where her son learned to swim.
"We will feel its loss," she said of the park. "I feel it already."
Six Flags America and its accompanying water park, Hurricane Harbor, closed permanently on Sunday, drawing a crowd of all ages for a final day of reminiscing.
