George R. R. Martin, author of the A Song Of Ice And Fire series, has revealed why he is still unable to finish 'The Winds Of Winter' after 14 years.
Martin, 77, explained that his creative process requires a specific environment, which his constant travels have made it difficult to maintain.
I need my own place. I need my office and my settings.
In an interview with January Magazine, Martin stated that he can only write effectively when alone in his office, surrounded by his books and personal artefacts that allow him to immerse himself in the world of Westeros.
Author's summary: Martin's writing process is hindered by travels.
