Broken roads, poor infrastructure: Citizen moves SHC against heavy e-challans | The Express Tribune

Challenge to E-Challan System in Karachi

A petition has been filed in the Sindh High Court against the newly-introduced e-challan system in Karachi, which has issued 12,942 e-challans amounting to over Rs65m to Karachiites within three days.

The petitioner, Ahmed Nadeem Awan, President of the Central Muslim League Karachi chapter, argues that the system unfairly burdens citizens who are already facing difficulties due to the city's poor road infrastructure.

The enforcement of stringent traffic regulations and issuing heavy fines places an unfair burden on citizens.

Author's summary: E-challan system challenged in court due to unfair burden.
