For the second time in 12 days, the Kettle Run Cougars visited Meridian High School for high-stakes field hockey action, with the Mustangs coming away victorious, winning 2-1 in overtime.
Emma Flanagan, who scored the only goal against the Cougars two weeks ago, scored 90 seconds into overtime. This was the second consecutive game that required extra minutes for the Mustangs, following a shootout against Fauquier in their regular season finale.
The game was scoreless in the first half, until Zorah Randhawa got the Mustangs on the board late in the third period.
Meridian won 2-1 in overtime, punching their ticket to states.
