The Park Rapids boys cross country team qualified for state for the fifth consecutive season and 16th time overall, earning a return trip to the state meet.
During the Section 8A meet, United North Central's Drew Aho and Nevis' Brennyn Ott earned individual state berths. The Panthers secured a state berth with 56 points, coming in second behind Hawley, who captured the section title with 48 points. Roseau finished third with 133 points.
"We felt the boys had a great chance of making the state meet," said coach Jacob Hutchins. "We have been running well all season, and we were definitely peaking at the right time. Many of our guys have seen some significant jumps and improvements in the past month, so we knew that earning a trip to state was in our control.
The team relied on four returning runners from last year's section runner-up team and three first-year varsity runners to accomplish their goal.
