Fewer people in Switzerland are getting their daily information from traditional news media, with the proportion of "news-deprived" individuals almost doubling since 2009.
The "Yearbook Quality of the Media" by the Research Centre for the Public Sphere and Society at the University of Zurich reports a 0.7 percentage point increase in news-deprived people, now totaling 46.4% of the Swiss population.
According to the study, this group has significantly less knowledge about political and social issues compared to the rest of the population.
