The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) confirmed a light aircraft crashed into a tuck shop at Hoërskool Alberton in Ekurhuleni on Sunday.
According to reports, an instructor and student were on a final evaluation flight test for a private pilot license when engine failure occurred, requiring an emergency landing on the school's rugby field.
The instructor and student escaped unharmed. Teaching and learning, including the ongoing National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations, will continue as normal.
Gauteng Education spokesperson Steve Mabona advised parents to ensure learners bring their own food to school while repairs are arranged.
