Afghan Foreign Minister Invites Women Journalists to Press Meet
Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi has organised a second press conference in New Delhi, inviting women journalists after facing criticism for excluding them from a previous press meet.
Muttaqi's initial press conference on Friday drew condemnation from journalists, opposition leaders, and women's rights groups after photographs showed a men-only briefing.
The exclusion was called "highly discriminatory" by the Editors Guild of India and the Indian Women's Press Corps (IWPC), who rejected any justification based on diplomatic protocol or the Vienna Convention.
The Afghan Foreign Minister has scheduled another media interaction, this time inviting female reporters, in an effort to address the backlash.
