Witness Fails to Link Emefiele to Bank Account in Fraud Trial
An Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) witness, Mshelia Arhyel, failed to link former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, to accounts in Zenith Bank.
Emefiele is charged with property fraud, among others, by the EFCC. The property in question is located at Plot 109, Cadastral Zone C09, Lokogoma District, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, and consists of 753 housing units on 150,462.86 SQM of land.
Emefiele is also standing trial alongside Eric Ocheme, who is at large, for allegedly keeping billions of naira in proxy accounts in Zenith Bank.
No direct link was established between Emefiele and the bank accounts during the trial.
