Mud Slide Leaves Vancouver Island's Holberg Stranded and Without Power

A windstorm has cut off access to the small, remote community of Holberg on Vancouver Island's northern tip due to a mudslide.

A mudslide has closed Holberg Road outside of Holberg, with reports of several other slides having occurred. According to Dane Cameron, the Regional District of Mount Waddington's emergency program coordinator,

"The slide occurred on Northeast 60 Road at approximately the 14k mark,"
which is a Western Forest Products section of road.

Western Forest Products is currently undertaking an assessment to better understand the extent of the slide and will develop an action plan for debris removal following the assessment.
