Marissa Monteith, a junior at Macomb Dakota, was given an ultimatum by her parents in eighth grade: if she quit softball, she had to play another school sport.
“My grandpa lives on a golf course and I’ve played golf for fun growing up. I guess I was pretty good at it, but never really took it seriously,”
recalled Monteith. She tried out for the golf team in high school and has since taken the sport seriously.
“My parents said there was no way I would just sit around after school and not do anything,”
she added. Monteith has been rising through the charts, with her dedication and natural talent driving her success.
