University of Denver students participated in the innovative course, "Ways of Seeing & Sensing," at the Kennedy Mountain Campus.
The curriculum, developed by the Departments of Biological Sciences, Physics & Astronomy, and Media, Film & Journalism Studies, brought students together to explore biology, ecology, astronomy, filmmaking, and science communication.
Co-taught by professors Joe Brown, Jennifer Hoffman, and Julie Morris, the course offered a location-based learning experience centered on the idea that
how we "see" or "sense" the world around us shapes how we understand it.
Students examined natural systems through micro and macro perspectives, using tools like microscopes, trail cameras, and telescopes.
Author's summary: Students explore interdisciplinary connections.
