The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has launched a contactless biometric capture system for driver's licence issuance, a major step towards digitalisation in Nigeria's motor vehicle administration.
This announcement was made during the launch of the 2025 Ember Months Road Safety Campaign, themed "Tech Responsibility for Your Safety: Stop Distracted Driving."
Speaking at the flag-off, Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed said the new driver's licence system would eliminate long delays and end the use of temporary licences.
The campaign aims to curb road accidents during the festive period by targeting dangerous driving behaviours that often lead to increased crashes between December 15 and January 15.
