Free Concert Series in Forest Park, Woodhaven
A free autumn concert series is coming to Forest Park in Woodhaven, presented by Goodhaven, The Forest Park Trust, Flushing Town Hall, and state Sen. Addabbo.
The series features the neighborhood band Juntas Chicas, an experimental band that combines classic Mexican music with modern genres like flamenco, cumbia, and jazz.
- Other performers include Tabla player Avirodh Sharma and sarangi player Rohan Misra.
- John Colpitts, a Connecticut-born percussionist and founder of Goodhaven, organized the concert series.
It was a “long process,”
according to Colpitts, who discovered the Forest Park Bandshell five or six years ago after living in New York City for three decades. He collaborated with the Forest Park Trust to secure a grant from The Flushing Town Hall.
