DUI Arrests on Big Island Roadways
A total of 12 motorists were arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) during the week of Oct. 6-12 on Big Island roadways.
The Hawai‘i Police Department continues to crack down on drunk driving, with a total of 708 DUI arrests made so far this year, representing a 7.69% decrease from the same period in 2024.
- Four of the arrested drivers were involved in traffic crashes.
- None of the arrested drivers were younger than 21 years old.
- Arrests were made in the following districts:
- Kona: 6
- Hilo: 3
- South Kohala: 2
- Puna: 1
An updated review of major crashes found 794 incidents so far in 2025, a 3.25% increase from the same time last year.
