Yohanna David Chol, a 38-year-old man, was found guilty of second-degree murder by a jury after a one-day deliberation.
Chol had been spared deportation on humanitarian grounds in 2021, just months before he committed the crime.
He lured 36-year-old Vuyo Kashe into a dark area of Clarence Street and shot him seven times in the back, in what prosecutors described as an
"execution-style" killing.
The motive behind the murder was not revealed during Chol's trial, which started in September.
