Chattanooga Residents Frustrated by Brush Pickup Delays

Piles of brush are accumulating outside homes in Chattanooga, causing frustration among residents and city council members due to a backlog of 311 calls.

A significant number of residents have reported submitting requests months ago that remain incomplete. As of the end of September, the city had nearly 2,300 pending brush service requests, with most submitted between one and three weeks prior.

Councilman Dennis Clark attributed the issue to management problems, while Chattanooga public works spokesperson Errol Williams cited high demand, staffing shortages, and issues with a 311 software upgrade as reasons for the delays.

Williams noted that the numbers might be misleading, but the delays continue to affect residents.
