A state-record fish was caught by Caleb Bell, certified by Tennessee officials as an Alabama bass, a subspecies of spotted bass considered invasive in Tennessee.
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency confirmed the species in a lab, recognizing the new state-record bass, but noted it shouldn't be in Tennessee waters.
“Unfortunately, Alabama Bass are an invasive species that was introduced illegally in Tennessee,”
the agency noted. Author's summary: Record bass caught in Tennessee.
