A climber in Yosemite National Park captured videos of BASE jumpers illegally taking the leap from El Capitan during the U.S. government shutdown.
The shutdown resulted in limited staffing, weakening park enforcement and allowing the BASE jumpers to take advantage of the situation.

Charles Winstead, a trail runner and climber, witnessed and recorded the incidents on October 6 and 12, noting that more than eight people engaged in the activity over several days.
