DNA testing is underway to identify human remains discovered off I-15 in Washington City, Utah.
A skull was found on Monday at mile marker 14, northbound I-15, about 50 feet off the road, according to Utah Highway Patrol Sgt.
The Utah Highway Patrol and the Utah State Bureau of Investigation are leading the investigation. The bones were found hidden in layers of debris and are believed to be several years old.
"I don't know the interval, but from time to time, the Department of Transportation sends work crews out there to clean up the debris,"
The Utah State Crime Lab is conducting the DNA testing. The area where the remains were found was well-covered and not easily visible from the roadway.
