Penn Abroad Terminates Penn English Program in London

Penn Abroad has discontinued funding for the Penn English Program in London, a nearly two-decade-old program, due to budget constraints.

According to English faculty members, the decision was made abruptly at the start of the fall 2025 semester, bringing an end to the English department’s study abroad program housed by King’s College London.

Faculty were not consulted before the decision was finalized.

Students majoring and minoring in English will still be able to study at King’s College under a typical exchange format. However, students and alumni expressed disappointment towards the termination of the program.

English department Chair Zachary Lesser discussed the decision in an interview with the DP.
