Longtime Peoria Broadcaster Chuck Collins to Retire
After 50 years on-air, Chuck Collins, chief meteorologist at WEEK-TV, is set to retire on October 15.
Collins will miss connecting with the community, particularly talking to kids about weather. He would often visit schools, speaking to grade school kids about the weather curriculum they study.
“The biggest thing I’m going to miss is talking to kids about weather. Usually grades three through six, they have a weather curriculum they study. I guess I’m a big kid as well.”
Collins also engaged with the community through talks at churches and other gatherings, as well as casual conversations in everyday settings.
