A total of 61 Zimbabwean students were awarded scholarships on Friday under the China-Zimbabwe Friendship Scholarship program. The initiative continues to strengthen educational exchange and deepen bilateral ties between the two nations.
Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding presented the awards at a ceremony in Harare. He noted that education is a cornerstone of cooperation between China and Zimbabwe, emphasizing that the scholarship program encourages mutual understanding and cultivates skilled young professionals.
“Young people are the future of our friendship,” said Zhou Ding. “Through education, we build bridges of cooperation and shared progress.”
In response, Zimbabwe’s Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science, and Technology Development, Amon Murwira, expressed appreciation for China’s support. He highlighted how the scholarships open life-changing opportunities for Zimbabwean students to pursue higher education in various disciplines and promised continued collaboration in research and innovation.
The recipients, selected from different academic fields, will have the opportunity to study at universities in Zimbabwe and China. The scholarship covers tuition, accommodation, and stipend support.
The China-Zimbabwe Friendship Scholarship was established to promote people-to-people ties and academic cooperation within the framework of the two countries’ long-term relationship. Since its inception, hundreds of Zimbabwean students have benefited, contributing to the country's human capital development and enhancing cultural understanding between the two nations.
“Education exchange builds mutual trust and shared development goals,” stated Zhou Ding, reaffirming China’s commitment to expanding academic cooperation.
