Thailand has initiated a national drone delivery pilot program in Bangkok, led by NT, the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), and High Lander Aviation. This marks an important milestone in creating a nationwide drone infrastructure with a large-scale urban demonstration of aerial delivery services.
The pilot event, titled “The New Era of Drone Delivery,” was jointly organized by Thailand’s National Telecom Public Company Limited (NT), CAAT, and High Lander Aviation, a global company providing unmanned traffic management (UTM) systems. The partnership presented practical use cases for coordinated drone operations in complex city environments.
High Lander’s Vega UTM platform was integrated with NT’s 5G network to ensure real-time flight monitoring, coordination, and safety. This system provided live telemetry data, automatic flight authorizations, and autonomous airspace conflict avoidance across multiple drone operators.
During the demonstration, dozens of successful drone deliveries were carried out. The flights transported a variety of goods, including medical supplies, agricultural products, and consumer items, highlighting the system’s versatility and reliability in real-world scenarios.
“CAAT’s role is to regulate aviation safety and promote the advancement of the aviation industry. Supporting innovation and technological development in unmanned aircraft and related systems is a key part of our mission,” said Air Chief Marshal Manat Chavanaprayoon, Director General of the CAAT.
The Bangkok drone pilot unites Thai authorities and High Lander to demonstrate modern, safe, and coordinated aerial delivery powered by 5G and UTM technology.
