Jordan Staal Marks Hurricanes Milestone with Rare Fight

Jordan Staal set a new record for the most games played as a Carolina Hurricane and later missed a long stretch of Thursday night’s match following a rare fight. The evening ultimately proved rewarding as the Hurricanes edged the Minnesota Wild 4–3.

The Carolina captain appeared in his 910th game for the franchise, surpassing his brother Eric Staal. The milestone underscored his enduring presence and leadership within the team.

“I appreciate the boys battling it out for me there,” Staal said. “Getting a good memory out of a milestone game and getting the two points. It has been a lot of fun with these guys and all the teammates I’ve played with — it’s been a joy and blessing, and I’m happy to keep going.”

At 37 years old, Staal now ranks third in franchise history for total games played, including the team’s Hartford Whalers era, trailing only Ron Francis (1,186) and Glen Wesley (913). Before joining Carolina, he spent his first six NHL seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
