Traffic was halted on the M25 clockwise between junctions 27 and 26 in Essex because of a car fire. Crews from the Essex Fire Service attended the scene to extinguish the vehicle blaze.
National Highways reported that the fire has now been cleared, but around three miles of congestion remain, causing delays of approximately 30 minutes for drivers on the M25.
“CLEARED#M25 clockwise between J27 (#M11) and J28 (#A12) Essex ALL LANES OPEN Following the earlier car fire. There remains approx. 3 miles of congestion and 30 min delay but this should start to clear now.”
Traffic is easing between junctions 27 and 28 in Essex, according to National Highways data, after the vehicle caught fire on the side of the motorway.
National Highways' website advised that delays of up to 30 minutes may occur as emergency services respond to the incident that took place this evening between J27 and J28.

National Highways' traffic mapping indicated standstill congestion in this area and shared images of the burning car which caused the disruption.
