Sara Cox to Begin Children in Need Challenge in Northumberland

BBC presenter Sara Cox is preparing for one of the most demanding Children in Need challenges, aiming to raise significant funds for the annual charity event. She will begin her journey in one of Northumberland’s most picturesque and recognizable locations.

Epic Journey Across the North

The Radio 2 Tea Time and Book Club host will cover the distance of five marathons across five days, traveling from Northumberland to Pudsey near Leeds, where she will meet the iconic Children in Need bear.

Starting Point: Kielder Forest

Sara’s adventure begins in the tranquil Kielder Forest, a location that gained global attention this year as the backdrop for scenes from the film 28 Years Later, directed by Oscar-winner Danny Boyle.

“Sara’s Great Northern Marathon Challenge will see her run, jog, and walk 135 miles through Northumberland, Durham, North Yorkshire, and West Yorkshire.”

Throughout her journey, she will traverse scenic moorlands, steep ridges, and rolling hills, all while carrying a Pudsey Bear backpack as a symbol of the cause she supports.
