Following Governor Joe Lombardo's call for a special session, efforts have begun to fill two vacant Republican Assembly seats in Nevada.
Initially, speculation in early August suggested that the focus would be on Assembly Bill 238, a $1.4 billion tax incentive bill aimed at attracting Hollywood to the state, and Lombardo's crime bill, Senate Bill 457.
Lombardo, a former sheriff of Clark County, home to Las Vegas, triggered a search to fill the vacant seats to maintain Republican presence ahead of the 2026 election.
The next regular legislative session is scheduled for 2027.
