Veteran Hollywood actress Sally Kirkland, 84, is receiving hospice care in Palm Springs after a year marked by serious health challenges, including dementia and multiple injuries.
According to her representative, Michael Greene, Kirkland’s health severely declined over the past year. A GoFundMe page revealed she suffered two life-threatening infections while recovering from multiple fractures.
"This past year Sally fractured her four bones in her neck, right wrist, and her left hip. While recovering she developed two separate life-threatening infections."
The fundraiser, created to help with medical expenses, explained that her conditions required ongoing hospitalizations and rehabilitation beyond the coverage of standard insurance limits.
Michael Greene shared that he is traveling from New York to be with Kirkland, saying she "will not go until I’m holding her hand." Her close friend and former student, Cody Galloway, remains at her side during this critical time.
"The combination of these injuries and infections have required extensive hospitalizations and rehab beyond the 100 days insurance will cover."
Recognized for her decades-long career and pioneering spirit, Kirkland’s contributions to film continue to inspire many in the entertainment industry.
