In a new interview on the Stellar podcast Something To Talk About, Titmus explained that no one has asked her why she decided to retire while still at the peak of her career.

“I knew it would be a shock to a lot of people. It was quite out of the blue,” Titmus told host Sarrah Le Marquand. “But I certainly wasn’t expecting the reception I received.”

She described how quickly the news went viral after she posted the announcement at 8 a.m. Brisbane time.
