Just days before this year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, Paul Rodgers of Bad Company announced he will not attend due to health issues. The singer and guitarist shared his decision on the band’s official Instagram.
“My hope was to be at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and to perform for the fans, but at this time I have to prioritize my health,” Rodgers wrote. “I have no problem singing, it’s the stress of everything else. Simon along with some outstanding musicians will be stepping in for me – guaranteed to rock.”
The band is scheduled to be inducted at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles this weekend. Other inductees include Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Cyndi Lauper, OutKast, Soundgarden, the White Stripes, Salt-N-Pepa, and several more.
Simon Kirke, Bad Company’s drummer and co-founder, previously confirmed that he and Rodgers planned to reunite on stage for the first time since 2019. However, Rodgers’ health concerns have now altered those plans.
“I’m not at liberty to say which songs. I mean, quite honestly, I don’t give a shit,” Kirke told Gold Derby about the planned performance.
Despite Rodgers’ absence, Kirke and other talented musicians will perform to represent Bad Company at the ceremony.
