Dylan Brown gave his halves partner Kieran Foran an ideal retirement gift by leading New Zealand to a remarkable comeback against Samoa in the Pacific Championships final. Brown’s outstanding performance reinforced his bid for the Golden Boot.
Samoa opened the scoring with the first two tries in front of a lively crowd at CommBank Stadium. However, Brown, along with New Zealand’s powerful bench players, shifted momentum, helping the Kiwis surge to a 36-14 victory.
Brown exploited fatigued defenders, consistently breaking through the defense. Early in the second half, he created a try for former teammate Isaiah Papali’i and later set up Casey McLean, who scored to extend their lead significantly.
“Brown feeds on tired defenders and ran them ragged with 169 metres, three assists, nine tackle busts and five offloads.”
Fans of the Knights are eager to see what Brown will achieve after signing a record-breaking contract with them for 2026, given his impeccable display in this final game of the 2025 footy season.
