A major era in North American esports has come to a close as TSM announced their withdrawal from competitive VALORANT on Monday, November 3rd. This decision ends a five-year chapter for the organization within Riot Games’ tactical shooter.
TSM was among the first major organizations to step into VALORANT in 2020. In their farewell statement, the team reflected on their pioneering role—helping shape the early competitive landscape through initiatives such as signing one of the first Game Changers rosters and encouraging co-streaming across the community.
“Our ambition has always been to compete at the highest level,” TSM stated, acknowledging both achievements and challenges from recent years.
Since 2023, TSM competed in the VALORANT Challengers League, the game’s Tier 2 circuit. Despite flashes of competitive potential, results varied, and the ultimate goal of qualifying for the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) remained elusive.
Despite the setback, TSM pursued the same goal in 2025, striving again for a spot in the VCT. However, the organization ultimately decided to step away from the VALORANT scene altogether, concluding one of its most significant esports endeavors.
Author’s Summary: After five years in Riot’s tactical shooter, TSM closes its VALORANT chapter, marking the end of an era for North American esports and its early innovators.
