Colorado State University (CSU) football failed to recover during their bye week, suffering a 42-10 home loss to UNLV on Saturday. The Rams, dealing with injuries and roster turnover this season, struggled to find positive moments, especially as the Rebels’ fast and powerful offense dominated the game.
The Rebels’ offense showcased impressive speed and consistency after the first quarter, exploiting every opportunity and making few mistakes. Jai’Den Thomas rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown on just seven carries, while Jaylon Glover added 99 yards and another touchdown on 12 carries. Thomas’ speed led to highlight runs of 59 and 57 yards, and UNLV’s passing game delivered long receptions of 68, 39, 37, and 25 yards.
By the second quarter, CSU led in total yards and turnovers, signaling a potential comeback. The Rams’ opening drive was strong, a 75-yard, 13-play drive consuming nearly six minutes, resulting in their only touchdown of the game.
While an improvement from their 28-0 loss in the Border War, CSU’s performance was insufficient to keep bowl hopes alive. UNLV capitalized on nearly every snap, transforming plays into decisive moments that sealed the Rams’ fate.
“The speed and explosive power of the Rebels’ offense came through in big ways throughout the game, and the consistency CSU managed faltered after the first quarter.”
CSU’s inability to maintain momentum and turn opportunities into sustained success defined their defeat against a confident UNLV squad.
The Rams showed brief promise early but fell apart as UNLV’s dynamic offense took control, ending any hopes for a bowl game this season.
