Transition Industries and Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Sign Agreement for Ultra-Low Carbon Methanol

Transition Industries LLC, a developer of large-scale, net-zero carbon methanol and hydrogen projects, has finalized a long-term agreement with Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company, Inc. (MGC) for the sale and purchase of ultra-low carbon methanol.

Details of the Agreement

The agreement, signed in Tokyo on November 6, 2025, by Masahiko Naito, Division Director of MGC, and Rommel Gallo, CEO of Transition Industries, will take effect upon the project’s Final Investment Decision (FID).

Under the terms, Transition Industries will supply around 1 million metric tons of ultra-low carbon methanol annually to MGC. The methanol will be produced at the Pacifico Mexinol project—an advanced facility located near Topolobampo, Sinaloa, Mexico—with an expected operational start in 2029. The plant will have a daily production capacity of approximately 6,130 metric tons.

Project Collaboration

The Pacifico Mexinol project is being developed in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), which is part of the World Bank Group. The collaboration focuses on sustainable industrial production aiming for net-zero carbon output.

“We are proud to announce the signing of a long-term ultra-low carbon methanol purchase and sale agreement with MGC, a recognized global leader in chemical manufacturing and marketing,” said Rommel Gallo, CEO of Transition Industries.

Summary

The agreement marks a significant step in the global move toward sustainable chemical production and reinforces the partnership between Transition Industries and MGC in reducing carbon emissions.
