Japan, along with several other nations, announced plans to increase the use of sustainable fuels such as biofuels and low‑carbon hydrogen fourfold by the year 2035.
The joint declaration was released ahead of the 30th Conference of the Parties to the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30), which will take place in Belem, Brazil.
The initiative was proposed collaboratively by Brazil, Japan, and Italy, and has already gained the backing of 19 countries, including Canada, India, Mexico, and the Netherlands.
