Nicole Kidman, Jude Law and More Who Didn’t Let Lacking a High School Diploma Derail Their Success

Nicole Kidman, Jude Law and Others Who Overcame Not Having a High School Diploma

Several celebrities achieved great success despite not completing high school. Jeremy Allen White, star of The Bear, recently shared a touching moment involving an old teacher at the NYC premiere of his new film, Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere.

“I wasn’t a good student because I didn’t go to school enough,” he said on the October 23 episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, referring to his time at the city’s Professional Performing Arts School and explaining that he never graduated.

After the screening, his teacher surprised him with a special gift. He recalled, “I was like, ‘Ah, you don’t have to do this, this is crazy, what are you giving me a gift for?’ When I opened it, it was my high school diploma. So… at 34 years old, I graduated high school!”

Although Nicole Kidman has won two Oscars, she expressed regret about leaving school early. During an interview on 60 Minutes, the 51-year-old shared,

“I’m a high school dropout, which I’m not proud to say. I had some teachers that I still think of fondly and were amazing to me.”

By the age of 15, she had already set her sights on becoming an actress and relocated to Los Angeles to pursue this goal.

These stories show that success does not always require a traditional education path.
