Mississippi communities are mourning after a violent weekend that left at least eight people dead in three separate shootings.
Authorities are investigating the shootings, which occurred in three towns, leaving multiple communities reeling from violence.
In the small town of Leland, chaos erupted Friday night following a homecoming football game. Police say six people were killed in a shooting on Main Street as crowds were leaving post-game celebrations.
People who were enjoying themselves last night found themselves faced with violence that no community should be faced with.
Victims ranged in age from 18 to 41. The suspect remains at large as investigators continue searching for the gunman.
Leland’s mayor pleaded with residents to come forward, saying:
This is not a time to keep your mouth closed. It’s a time you open your mouth. You can save a lot of lives if you open your mouth and tell us what you have seen.
