Alex Vesia, pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, and his wife Kayla are grieving the loss of their daughter, Sterling Sol Vesia, who was stillborn.
"There are no words to describe the pain we’re going through but we hold her in our hearts and cherish every second we had with her," the couple shared in a joint statement.
On Instagram, they posted a photo of their hands over their daughter's and wrote:
"Our little angel. We love you forever & you’re with us always."
Sterling passed away on Sunday, October 29. The couple expressed their gratitude for the support they received from the Dodgers organization after the team's World Series victory against the Toronto Blue Jays on November 7.
"Our baseball family showed up for us and we wouldn’t be able to do this without them."
"Thank you Dodger Nation, Blue Jays organization and all baseball fans for your love and support. We have seen ALL your messages, comments and posts. It’s brought us so much comfort."
They also thanked the medical staff at Cedars Sinai for their care during this difficult time.
"Lastly, we’d like to thank Cedars Sinai and all the medical staff who helped Kayla and Sterling. Every person we came across was truly so incredible."
